Intel Denies Trade Secret Allegations Amid TSMC Probe
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan dismissed claims that a former TSMC executive brought trade secrets to the chipmaker, calling them "rumor and speculation." The remarks follow Taiwanese media reports alleging Lo Wen-jen, a 75-year-old TSMC veteran who joined Intel weeks after retiring in July, may have transferred proprietary knowledge.
Taiwanese authorities have launched preliminary checks into potential legal violations. TSMC, now valued at over $1.15 trillion, treats its manufacturing processes as national assets. The company has initiated an internal review but hasn’t concluded whether any information was compromised.
Lo previously led TSMC’s corporate strategy and advanced technology development, overseeing mass production of chips for AI accelerators and other applications. His departure comes as global semiconductor firms intensify competition for talent and intellectual property.
